4 Quick Crochet Patterns for Gender Euphoria

Check out these crochet pattens for gender euphoria.

A packer, a binder, chest plates, some makeup can make such a huge difference for trans folk. Some trans folks don’t have access to these gender affirming items, though. So I have compiled a 3 existing crochet patterns for you gender euphoria. Check them out then head to the comments to tell me what other patterns you’d like to see! I cannot wait to grow this list in 2024.

The first time I put on a packer and looked in the mirror, I cried. In a good way. Packers allow trans-masc folks to combat bottom dysphoria. The first packer I crocheted was Janet Dawsons (see below) and loved it – but wanted to make a few adjustments for myself. Thus the No-Sew Packer Pattern was born.

Is it tacky to promote my own pattern? Probably – but if I don’t do it who will? Like the title suggests, this pattern is no-sew (Janet’s is low-sew) and I also added some additional shaping to the scrotum area. I have a ton more to saw about this pattern, but I’ve already said it all in the Look-Book post where I share more photos from my pattern testers and variations on the pattern.

Perfectly Reasonable Packer: Janet Dawson (get the free pattern on Ravelry).

Janet Dawson notes this pattern was a response to a story about a trans man getting his packer taken away when admitted to a mental hospital (read about it on Ravelry).

I made this packer for myself to use in drag performances. It worked up quickly and the pattern was easy to follow. The great thing about crocheting your own packer is that you can adjust the size to your preference. Janet has included sizing notes and adjustments in the pattern so you can customize it to fit your body.

Quick & Easy Round Knocker: Janet Dawson (Get the pattern free on Ravelry).

Similar to packers for trans-mascs, trans-femme folks may look to fill out their chest to relieve dysphoria. These quick and easy (as the pattern suggests) chest implants are great for filling in a bra. Janet shares how these two patterns inspired an organization and crochet-along to provide gender affirming products for youth over the holidays. Make one (or two) for yourself or a friend.

As an AFAB person myself who is fairly “top heavy” this is not a pattern I thought I would ever use. Alas, I needed a faux pregnancy belly pillow and thought “I can just use this pattern but make it bigger!” Unfortunately for me, the pattern looked too much like boobs, so I couldn’t use it. But that’s just a testament to the accuracy of the pattern! It was easy to follow and worked up in less than an hour – granted I only made one. But it was really big.

Electra Chest Binder: Bloodimaryart (Get it here for $5.39)

When I first started crocheting, I wanted to crochet a binder. Reddit discouraged me, saying yarn was too bulky and stretchy it wouldn’t make a good binder so I lost hope. THEN I stumbled across this pattern. Not originally a binder pattern, but some transfolks recognized it could work as such and reached out to the creator. She added some optional adjustments to make the cord stronger and leave off the embellishment at the bottom to make it better suited for binder use.

I made this pattern for myself using the trans flag colored Big Twist Living yarn, and it turned out great. I totally measured my body wrong so it didn’t fit at all. Totally my fault. But it has *potential* to be really good. I definitely want to try again and this time I’ll account for stretch when I measure.

Did you try any of these patterns? Are there other gender affirming patterns you would like to see? Let me know in the comments!
