This pattern was initially created from episode 5 of my TikTok series Roll for Crochet.
I didn’t follow a pattern and did trial and error for far longer than I should have. I got super frustrated throughout the process, but I loved the outcome so much I knew others would too. I don’t want anyone else to struggle the way I did – so I wrote up the pattern.
If you want to make this bag in a different pride flag or stripe pattern – check out the PDF version which details out how many rows and stitches to do in each color to ensure your bag turns out perfect!

Sewing Up
Lay the rectangle longways on a table with the right side facing up.
Fold the top left corner down to align the left side with the bottom of the rectangle.
Similarly, fold the bottom right corner up to align the right side with the top of the
rectangle.

Take the triangle on the right side and fold it down to align the top of the “open square” (the part that is not folded over) with the edge of the left triangle. The two edges that are now touching should be the same color and be the first color you used.
Reorient the bag so that the points of the triangles are facing up.

Sew together the purple stitches that are touching

Flip the bag over and sew together the seam where the black stitches touch

Fasten off and weave in ends.
Border
Sc around edge of bag, ch1 at each corner.
Strap
Row 0: Turn the bag and flatten one of the corners. Attach your yarn to the 3rd sc on one side of the point of the triangle. Sc into the same st. Ch 1, sk 1. Sc into st to next to the ch1 that makes the point of the triangle. Ch 2. Sc into the st on the other side of the point of the triangle. Ch1, sk 1. Sc 1 into the 3rd stitch on the side of the triangle. (8 sts)

Row 1: Ch 1. Sc into first sc. Sc into ch1 space. Ch1, sk 1. Sc into ch2 space. Ch1, sk 1. Sc into ch1 space. Sc into last sc. (7 sts)
Row 2: Ch1. Sc into first sc. Ch1, sk 1. Sc into ch1 space. Ch1, sk1, ch 1. Sc into ch1 space. Ch1, sk1. Sc into last sc. (8 sts)
Repeat rows 1 and 2 each 24 times for a total of 50 rows.
Row 51: Ch1 and turn. Sc7 (7 sts).
Slip stitch the 7 sc to the opposite corner of the bag. The first 3 sc should be sl st onto one side of the point, the 4th sc into the ch1 corner space, and the last 3 sc into the 3 sts on the other side of the corner.
Fasten off and weave in your ends.
