Pride Flag Bucket Hat: Free Crochet Pattern

I found the Big Twist Living yarn and loved it. I bought it in hopes of using it for planned pooling. After much trial and error, I admitted the yarn does not pool. It was time to pivot. What should I make out of my trans flag yarn? I could not get the idea of a pride bucket hat out of my head – even though I’m not a bucket hat person myself.

After trying to adapt the Hobbi Jazzy Bucket Hat with no success due to different yarn weights and stretch, I decided this  yarn needed its own dedicated pattern. After posting my hat on TikTok, it took literally one person asking for the pattern for me to make it.

While Big Twist Living is currently unavailable (Michael’s? 👀) I have used this pattern for a couple Roll for Crochet projects on my TikTok using various stash yarns, and they’ve come out cute!

MATERIALS & SIZING

I grabbed 1 skein of Big Twist Living Yarn and the recommended hook size (4.5mm). I chose the color “Life” but any color would work for this pattern. Make sure your scissors, tapestry needle, and measuring tape are close at hand.

This pattern is written with Small, Medium, and Large stitch counts, but I have added information so you can make this to measure by stopping early or adding additional rows. A small fits heads with circumference 20″-21″, medium fits 22″, and large fits 23″.

RIGHT TO USE

This pattern is free to use for personal use or items for sale, however please do not republish or redistribute this pattern. Please DO NOT use my photos in your listings without express written permission.

This is my first written pattern, so if you have any questions or feedback regarding this pattern, please leave a comment on this post.
